Privacy policy

Your water company decides who gets an account and keeps the records of your shares, credits, transfers and water use. We store and process those records for your water company so the website and app can work. For questions about those records, or to correct them, contact your water company office.

Your sign-in. Your name, email address and password, or the account you sign in with if you use Sign in with Apple or Google. Your water company provides your name and email when it invites you.

Water records. Accounts, shares, water credits, transfers, water orders, usage readings and the notes that go with them, entered by your water company and by you.

Location, only when you record a reading. When a water master saves a reading in the mobile app, the app can attach where it was taken, so the reading can be matched to the right headgate. The app only asks for location while you are using it and never tracks location in the background. You can decline, and readings still save.

Photos you choose to send. If you photograph a paper water-use form, the photo is uploaded so the numbers on it can be read and filed. The app only uses the camera and photo library when you ask it to.

Field gauges over Bluetooth. The app uses Bluetooth to connect to water-level gauges in the field and calibrate them. This exchanges gauge readings and settings, not personal information.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can send you alerts about water orders and approvals.

Usage and diagnostics. The website records anonymous page views and page-load performance, and our servers keep logs of requests and errors, so we can keep the service running and fix problems. We record which changes were made to water records and by whom, so your water company has an audit trail.

Face ID and fingerprints stay on your phone. If you use them to unlock the app, your phone checks them. We never receive biometric data.

To sign you in, to show you and your water company the records you are allowed to see, to record water deliveries and usage, to send you the notifications you have turned on, and to keep the service secure and working. We do not sell your information, do not use it for advertising, and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Only the service providers that run parts of the service for us, and only what each one needs:

• Clerk, for sign-in and account security.
• Vercel, which hosts the website and its servers, and provides the anonymous page analytics.
• Neon, which hosts the databases.
• Anthropic, which provides the AI that reads photographed forms and answers questions staff ask about their water company's records.
• Resend, which sends notification emails.
• Expo, Apple and Google, which deliver app updates and push notifications.

Your water company's staff can see the records their role allows. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Your sign-in is kept until it is deleted, by you or by your water company. Water records are kept for as long as your water company uses the service, because they are its business records.

You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account) or at /delete-account. You are signed out everywhere straight away and your sign-in is deleted after 30 days; signing in again before then cancels it. Your water company keeps its records of your shares and water use.

Information is encrypted in transit. Each water company's records are kept in their own separate database, and people only see the records their role allows.

The service is for water companies and their stockholders. It is not directed at children under 13.

If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
